Frequently asked questions
What should I fix first? +
Fix eligibility and accuracy first: verify the Google Business Profile, choose the correct category, represent the real address or service area, keep hours and contact details current, and make the website enquiry path work.
I scored 9/15, am I doing well? +
The score shows which checks this tool marked complete; it does not predict a ranking. Verify each unticked item, then prioritise changes by relevance to customers and measurable business impact.
How do I add LocalBusiness schema? +
Use JSON-LD that matches visible, truthful business details and the most specific supported type. A plugin can help, but validate its output and do not add reviews, addresses or services the page cannot substantiate.
Why do reviews matter? +
Reviews help customers assess trust, and Google says review count and positive ratings can contribute to local prominence. They do not override relevance, distance, eligibility or other prominence signals.
What is NAP consistency? +
NAP means name, address and phone. Important listings should clearly describe the same real business, while harmless formatting differences such as a UK international dialling code are not evidence of a fixed ranking penalty.
